PRE-CARE

FOR EYEBROW

  • DO NOT tweeze, wax brows for 2 days prior and 10 days for tint brows
  • DO NOT consume coffee, alcohol or energy drinks 24 hours before treatment (they are natural blood thinners and making you bleed more during the process.  This affects the final result)
  • Cosmetic botox or fillers should be done 4 weeks prior or 4 weeks after
  • Consuming Vitamin E, Omega 3, Gingko Biloba, Niacin (Vitamin B3) , St. John’s Wort , or other vitamins that have been shown to have blood-thinning effects, is recommended to be avoided at least 2 weeks before treatment
  • Do not take aspirin products, ibuprofen, naproxen 2 weeks prior to your appointment.  You may take 1 or 2 Tylenol half an hour prior to your appointment as needed
  • You may experience hypersensitivity and more pain around or during your menstrual cycle
  • Don’t go sunbathing or tanning and try not to work out on the day of the treatment
  • Refrain from any chemical peel treatments , microdermabrasion, laser or any other intense facial treatments 4 weeks before treatment
  • We will not be able to tattoo over any blemishes, sores, and moles in or around the brow area

FOR LIPS

All of the above and below:

  • If you are prone to coldsores you will need an antiviral prescription. Tattooing the lips stimulates any herpes activity (coldsores).  L-Lysine over the counter supplement is also additional option
  • Do not get any lip filler injections three weeks prior to procedure.
  • Do not receive collagen or Restylane injections at least six months prior to lip procedure due to poor color retention and migration along lip edges.
  • Exfoliate your lips – 1 or 2 days prior. This is very important in order to help color absorbs better. Use any gentle and natural exfoliation scrubs.
  • Keep your lips super moisturized with Vaseline. The softer and less dry, the better. Dry/cracked lips have a harder time taking in pigment, it is also more painful.
  • NO fish oil

FOR EYELINER

All of the above and below:

  • Please try not to schedule your appointment on or around your menstrual cycle; it can increase pain and bleeding which affects retention
  • Remove your contact lenses
  • Remove your lash extensions and do not put them back on until 6 weeks after your last session
  • No lash serums for at least 6 months prior to your procedure. They would thin the skin and can cause major pigment migration and scarring. If your lash line is reddish-purplish, you can see a lot of veins, or your lash line is still itchy, you need to wait longer before getting any type of eyeliner procedure
  • Tanning should be avoided for at least 2 weeks prior and approximately 2 weeks after, or until all scabs have come off
  • DO NOT consume any blood thinners 2 weeks prior to your procedure (aspirin, ibuprofen, niacin, vitamin E, Omega 3 – these will cause excess bleeding and may affect your results including migration, bruising and poor retention).
  • Stop using any skin thinners & lighteners (vitamin A, vitamin C, retinol, glycolic acids, alpha hydroxyl) 2 weeks prior
  • No waterproof mascara or waterproof eyeliner for 1 week prior. No mascara of any type for 2 days prior
  • You may come with your eyeliner on how you like it as long as it is not waterproof, but no eye makeup
  • No botox/fillers 4 weeks prior and 4 weeks after the final session

AFTER-CARE

It is important to take the time to read and implement the aftercare instructions for safety and great healing results

  • First 2 days: Wash your face/eyebrows at least 2x/day with lukewarm water and Gentle Cleanser (prefer Cetaphil) (ONLY apply cleanser around the treated area). Pat dry with DAMP paper towels.  Gently press against the skin to remove ALL excess fluids from the eyebrows.  NO ointment!
  • Day 3 to Day 7 (up to 10 days): Wash your face/eyebrows at least 2x/day with lukewarm water and Gentle Soap/Cleanser. Pat dry with paper towels. Apply a light (1/2 size of a piece of rice on EACH brow) coating of ointment on the procedure area using a clean cotton swab.  Continue this regime until all scabs completely peel!  NOTE: $5 fee will be applied for any additional ointment!
  • Keep hands washed: do not touch the healing pigmented area with your fingers, they may have bacteria on them and create an infection!
  • Do not expose your healing skin to direct shower spray, skin creams, ointments or lotions other than what you have been instructed to use!
  • Avoid exercising for at least 3 days (prefer 7 days)!  Avoid hot tubs, pools, tanning beds or sunbathe!
  • Scabbing that may form will naturally fall off.  Some itching is normal.  DO NOT PICK, PEEL OR SCRATCH.  Pigment might be removed along with the crusting tissue!
  • Makeup and lotions: During the healing process, keep ALL makeup, lotions and exfoliating products away from treated area!
  • Ice packs or frozen peas protected with a cloth may be applied as necessary to reduce swelling!
  • If you have excessive redness, swelling and tenderness or any red streaks going from the procedure are to the heart, elevated temperature or excessive drainage, contact your physician and the studio as the area may be infected!
  • If you experience any swelling, blistering or any other complications post-procedure, stop using product. You may be allergic to the aftercare product you are using.  Please cleanse the area and call the studio (714) 782 – 8424!

Typical effects in the next 30 days – DO NOT expect your brow tattoos to heal perfectly after the first session. This can be a 2 step process. It takes time.  BE PATIENT during your 10 day healing process your brows will change and appear different from day to day.  Failure to follow these instructions may result in pigment loss!

  • Day 1 – 3:   Immediately after the procedure, the eyebrows are approximately about 35-45% darker and 15-25% thicker than you might have expected.  Your skin is red under the pigment which causes the color of the pigment to appear darker. This will subside! Don’t panic. Keep moist!
  • Day 4 – 5:   Top layer of skin begins to scab and shed off.   Scabbing will result in excessive loss of pigment.  This is all part of the process.  Eyebrows will start to itch and will appear a bit thicker in texture. Natural exfoliation begins, do not exfoliate yourself!
  • Day 6 – 7:   Color finishes flaking off and appears softer for 5 weeks until color clarifies.  Once healed, the result will, in the most cases, resemble a softly drawn pencil (depending on colors selected)!
  • Day 10 – 30: After 10 days you may use brow makeup very gently if you need it. The color will slowly come back to life and bloom back to the surface as that now, white skin settles in and heals.  Wait at least 4 weeks to see the true color, as it will take on new strength, and it is only after 5 weeks that your touch up/adjustment can be done.  Your second appointment is to tighten up your shape (there is no thicker or thinner adjustment in shape), touch up any light spots and also to assess how your skin reacts to the process, and the chose color, I note everyone pigment blend, in case we need to layer in a different shade.  There are always options!

What to expect for LIPS:

  • You may take pain reliever right after the procedure
  • Place an icepack or frozen pea bag on the lips for 10 minutes at a time.  Make sure the they are sanitized/clean.  Do this for 24hrs, longer if needed.
  • Take papaya/pineapple enzymes for swelling.
  • Throughout the week use warm cotton pad and lightly rub off the dried Aftercare ointment.  Then reapply sparingly, always keep it moist.
  • Avoid lipstick, salty foods, toothpaste touching the lips. Drink your beverages through a straw for the first few days
  • Have a clean and dry diet and eat with cutlery to avoid getting the lips dirty.

Next 10 days:

  • Day 1: The color will be bright for 4 days and slightly swollen.
  • Day 3: Your lips will start the healing process and be extremely chapped.  Make sure you use the warm compress and lightly wipe. It will keep the dead skin exfoliated.
  • Day 5: The color will almost disappear.  The color will slowly appear throughout the month to half the original color.
  • Day 7-10: They should stop exfoliating or be close to it.  Your lips might still feel sensitive, it’s still healing underneath.

Typical effects in the next 7 days for EYELINERS:

  • Day 1:   Immediately after the procedure, the eyes will be swollen.  The swelling will reduce overnight.  Avoid heavy lifting, physical exertion, and crying!
  • Day 2:   Eyes will be less swollen but feel tight.  The lash area will feel sore if touched!
  • Day 3-10:  The top layer of skin will begin to flake off. DO NOT PICK or RUB!

We recommend a Yearly Refresher to maintain your procedure’s color integrity!
